Need to Know
General Terms & Conditions:
All persons entering the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA) are admitted subject to the following regulations. Persons not complying with the below regulations or may be removed from the Aquarium by either AQWA Security Personnel/Staff or Police Officers. This is without prejudice to any claim that the Aquarium may have against such a person or persons arising out of their actions. Whilst inside the Aquarium, all visitors must comply with any instructions given to them by Security, AQWA Personnel or Police Officers.
- All visitors must present at reception upon arrival to purchase or present their tickets/passes, including those with e-tickets or vouchers; digital/mobile tickets are accepted.
- AQWA reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse admission to the aquarium, ban from entry to the aquarium or remove from the aquarium any person who:-
- Has behaved in or at the entry to the aquarium in a manner, which, in the opinion of AQWA has, or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other visitors.
- Uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or in any way provokes or behaves in a manner, which may provoke a breach of the peace.
- Does not follow written or verbal safety instructions or behaves in a manner which may endanger the safety of the individual or other visitors in the aquarium.
- All persons entering the aquarium must pay for admission or hold a valid admission ticket or pass that must be retained at all times and submitted for inspection if required by Staff. Any person attempting to gain admission or entry to the aquarium or being found inside the aquarium without a valid admission ticket may be ejected and will be reported to police.
- No child or children aged 13 or under will be admitted to the aquarium unless they are accompanied by an adult who shall be 18 years or over and such child or children whilst on site must remain under the control or supervision of an adult at all times.
- Guide Dogs and Assistance Animals are permitted in accordance with section 9 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). We reserve the right to exercise any exemptions under the Act and reserve the right to require evidence relating to your assistance animal or its training in accordance with section 54A(5) of the Act.
- To prevent offensive items, weapons or dangerous articles from being taken into the aquarium, visitors are admitted subject to a condition that, if requested to do so, they will allow themselves to be searched. It is prohibited to bring into the aquarium any weapons, fireworks, smoke bombs, glass bottles or other articles, which may cause injury. The throwing of any article, which could cause injury or annoyance is strictly prohibited.
- Intoxicating liquor of any kind must not be taken into the aquarium and any persons found possessing alcohol, or who appear to be under the influence of alcohol will be refused admission or escorted from the aquarium.
- AQWA will endeavour to ensure that as many exhibits as possible are on display. We may, however, without prior notice and without refund or compensation, change the operating hours of the Aquarium, close the Aquarium or any part of it temporarily, restrict the number of persons having access to the Aquarium, and/or close any part of the Aquarium or reduce the duration of any interactive programme for operational reasons.
- Unnecessary noise or any behaviour likely to cause annoyance/disturbance/confusion to other visitors and/or animals is not permitted at any time in any part of the aquarium.
- The climbing of or standing upon railings, barriers or structures is strictly prohibited.
- Only AQWA staff or appointed affiliates are permitted to sell any items to visitors within the aquarium, including but not limited to tickets, gift shop items and food and beverages.
- AQWA accepts no responsibility for any loss and/or damage however arising, including any distress, inconvenience or anxiety caused to guests whilst in the aquarium.
- From time to time AQWA or other authorised parties carry out photography and/or video recording in the Aquarium, which may feature visitors. By accepting these Regulations, you agree that AQWA or any authorised party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that copyright in these materials rests with AQWA or such authorised party (as the case may be).
- Smoking of any substance by any means is strictly prohibited anywhere in the Aquarium.
- The wearing of clothing, which in the opinion of AQWA is offensive to other visitors is not permitted. Footwear and shirts must be worn at all times.
- COVID-19.
- In response to the COVID19 pandemic, specific safety measures may be introduced as and when deemed necessary by AQWA or in accordance with government mandated regulations.
- Should an individual not comply with these safety measures, we reserve the right to instruct individual(s) to leave the Aquarium in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Ticket Purchase Terms & Conditions:
Persons purchasing tickets for entry to the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA), operated by Coral World Australia Pty Ltd, are subject to the following Terms and Conditions and by acquiring one or more tickets, e-tickets , passes, e-gift vouchers or gift cards to AQWA confirm to Coral World Australia Pty Ltd acceptance of these terms and conditions of use. Ticket holders are referred to in these Terms and Conditions as “Visitors”. All prices are inclusive of GST and all transactions are in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- Refunds, Redemptions and Cancellations
- 1.1. Standard Entry Electronic Tickets (‘E-Tickets’)
- Standard Entry E-Tickets are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. E-tickets cannot be refunded, transferred or extended beyond this period.
- Standard Entry E-Tickets can be used for entry to the aquarium any day of the week and on any date. The only day the aquarium is closed is Christmas Day (December 25).
- Standard Entry E-Tickets are fully refundable or may be exchanged for an E-Gift Voucher. Please contact AQWA during opening hours on +61 8 9447 7500 or via email bookings@aqwa.com.au for more information.
- 1.2. Experiences, programs and special event Tickets (‘Experience’)
- 1.2.1. Tickets for an Experience with allotted dates and or times (‘Allocated Entry Time’) are non-refundable and void if altered.
- 1.2.2. Tickets for Experiences with allotted dates and or times may be rescheduled or transferred without penalty where notice of request to reschedule or transfer the Experience is received as follows:
- Glass Bottom Boat – no less than 24 hours notice prior to date of Experience.
- Behind the Scenes Pass – no less than 48 hours notice prior to the date of Experience.
- Snorkel or Dive With Sharks – no less than 7 days notice prior to date of Experience.
- Dine Beneath the Sea – no less than 7 days notice prior to date of Experience. No alternative date of the same Experience will be guaranteed and will only be offered subject to availability and at AQWA’s discretion. No refunds will be given. Transfer to another person/s of the Visitor’s choosing and for the same date will be offered.
- 1.2.3. Visitors who arrive after the Allocated Entry Time for any Ticket are not guaranteed entry. Subject to availability, an alternative same day option may be made offered. No refunds will be provided should an alternative be of a lower price.
- 1.2.4. Visitors who fail to attend the Allocated Entry Time will be considered to have cancelled. No refunds will be provided for cancellation.
- At the sole discretion of AQWA, Allocated Entry Time(s) may be altered or cancelled. In such circumstances AQWA will offer a full refund or option to reschedule to an alternative Allocated Entry Time.
- Tickets may have specific requirements and conditions. These are detailed in product booking page(s) on the AQWA website. In purchasing a Ticket visitors acknowledge they have read, understand, will adhere to and abide by any requirements and or conditions associated with a Ticket.
- A purchased Ticket, where entry to the aquarium is included, entitles the Ticket holder to multiple re-entry, during opening hours, to the aquarium for the day on which the ticket is first redeemed. Tickets purchased for dining and or after-hours events are restricted to single entry.
- Standard entry tickets are not valid for special events that require a separate and or additional entry fee.
- Tickets purchased from any third-party such as an Online Travel Agent, gifting website, visitor centre etc (‘Reseller’) are subject to the Resellers terms and conditions of purchase. AQWA will not honour the terms and or conditions of a Reseller where they differ from AQWA’s. All cancellation or booking modification requests should be made directly to the Re-Seller. AQWA is unable to amend and or cancel any Tickets purchased via a Reseller.
- Annual Membership Pass
- 7.1. Visitors holding a valid Annual Membership Pass (Member Pass) are entitled to unlimited entry to the aquarium for a period of no less than 12 months from date of activation.
- 7.2. Member Passes are non refundable.
- 7.3. Member Passes non transferable. Only the person or person/s assigned to the pass can use the Membership for entry and must present valid photo ID (if requested).
- 7.4. Member Passes cannot be cancelled once activated and credits will not be provided for any time remaining.
- 7.5. Persons attempting to misrepresent their identity when presenting a Member Pass will not be permitted entry and the Membership Pass will be cancelled without refund.
- Electronic Gift Vouchers (‘E-Gift Vouchers’)
- 8.1. E-Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase, unless otherwise specified.
- 8.2. E-Gift vouchers are valid for online ticket purchases only.
- 8.3. E- Gift vouchers are non-refundable and non-redeemable for cash.
- 8.4. E-Gift vouchers may be transferable (to another product or person) pending approval by the relevant department Manager.
- 8.5. Lost, destroyed vouchers: Please keep your emailed tax invoice as proof of purchase in case the recipient loses their voucher.
- Gift Cards
- 9.1. AQWA Gift Cards are available for purchase from the aquarium Reception & Giftshop only.
- 9.2. Value of gift card must be greater than $30.00 and total gift card value is determined by the purchaser at time of purchase.
- 9.3. Valid gift cards may be used for the purchase of Tickets or items Café or Gift Shop.
- 9.4. Gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase, unless otherwise specified.
- 9.5. Gift cards are non-refundable and non-redeemable for cash.
- 9.6. Lost, destroyed cards cannot be replaced and should be treated as cash.
- From time to time, AQWA may issue Tickets under special promotions (“Promotional Tickets”). Promotional Tickets are offered subject to availability at time of purchase and subject to any terms and conditions affecting a particular promotion.
- Visitors purchasing a Concession Ticket (Student, Senior, Healthcare, Veterans) or Free of Charge Ticket (Companion, Homeschool Educator) will be required to present a valid relevant card or certificate and ID upon arrival. Where these cannot be produced a new Ticket must be purchased to gain entry. Homeschool Educators are accepted free of charge with a paying home-school student. 1 free Educator per family.
- Where Ticket prices vary according to age or category, the following provisions apply
- A person aged 16 years or older is classed as an adult;
- A person aged 3 to 15 years is classed as a child;
- Children aged 2 years and under, no admission fee will be charged; and
- A Family is considered 2 adults and 2 children
- Price Variation: The price of Tickets may vary from time to time and prices advertised are not guaranteed.
- Our liability to you in respect of a purchase shall be limited to the value of that purchase. We shall not be liable to you for any economic loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, wasted expenditure or depletion of goodwill which may arise out of or in connection with a purchase.
- Aquarium access: Without prior notice and without refund or compensation, AQWA may change the operating hours of the aquarium, temporarily close the aquarium or any part thereof, restrict the number of persons having access to the aquarium, and/or close any exhibit or reduce the duration of any interactive programme for operational reasons.
- Booking Fees: AQWA does not apply booking fees or charges to purchases however at the discretion of the visitor’s bank, financial institute or credit card issuer, foreign exchange fees may be applied to transactions.
Participant Requirements for AQWA Experiences (including in-water adventures):
- AQWA’s Right to Refuse: AQWA reserves the right to refuse any person’s, for whatever reason, participation in our adventure Experiences. A person will only be reimbursed should they be refused permission to participate on grounds other than those terms and conditions set out during their purchase/booking.
- AQWA’s Right to Reschedule: On rare occasions an experience session may be rescheduled. All adventure Experiences are at the discretion of AQWA and may need to be altered, rescheduled or cancelled. Participants will be offered an alternative day/time or a refund for cost of the experience only.
- Behind the Scenes Pass & Glass Bottom Boat ride:
- Participants must be over the age of 4 and physically able to manage stairs, and for Behind the Scenes Pass be able to walk for up to 60 minutes.
- All Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a paying Adult.
- All participants must wear enclosed non-slip footwear.
